Reporting into the Director of Education, you will be responsible for a Virtual School team within a busy London based local authority. Leading transformation across Virtual School Services. You will have a proven track record working as a Head of a Virtual School and proven ability to work strategically and lead a large team. Your Role as Head of Virtual School: Develop and implement customized curricula tailored to the academic and emotional needs of looked-after children, adaptable to individual circumstances. Coordinate comprehensive support services, including academic tutoring, mental health counselling, and social skills training, to enhance student well-being. Collaborate closely with social workers, foster carers, and other stakeholders to integrate educational goals with each child's care plan and improve service effectiveness. Deliver specialized training to staff on the challenges unique to looked-after children, focusing on trauma-informed practices and supportive teaching. Continuously track and adjust students' academic and emotional progress, and report findings to the council for transparent, accountable care and education management. Your previous experience as Head of Virtual School: You will possesses a deep understanding of and expertise in special education, with a strong background in creating and managing programs tailored to diverse learning needs and emotional challenges. You will be capable of excellent communication and relationship-building abilities, capable of collaborating effectively with social workers, foster carers, healthcare professionals, and other stakeholders to ensure a holistic approach to education and care. You will have a passionate advocate for the rights and well-being of looked-after children, committed to promoting policies and practices that prioritize their best interests in educational settings. You will be proficient in using data analytics to monitor student progress, adapt educational strategies, and report outcomes to ensure transparency and accountability in educational delivery and student development.
