We are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced, and committed individual to join the Portfolio Management Office (PoMO) for the Mid Wales Growth Deal (MWGD). This is an exciting opportunity to drive forward a £110m capital investment from the UK and Welsh Government in a £300m portfolio of key investments that will significantly enhance the regional economy in partnership with the private sector. We are now proceeding at pace into the delivery stage and require an experienced portfolio planner to work within a busy Portfolio Management Office. About the Role As the Portfolio Planner, you will be responsible for the creation, management and reporting of the Portfolio planning ensuring all aspects of the Portfolio are clearly defined, including key milestones and resource allocation. You will lead a small team on all aspects of portfolio planning including analysis; horizon scanning, development, maintenance, monitoring and reporting all programme and project delivery plans across the portfolio. We operate a risk adjusted planning approach so strong RAID management is crucial, as is high proficiency in using Microsoft Project on the web, from which our dashboard reporting is driven. Key Responsibilities Risk-adjusted Planning and Reporting: Develop, update, and proactively manage the risk-adjusted portfolio plan and reporting delivery progress against plan. RAID Management: Lead the best practice management of risks, issues, assumptions and dependencies and issues within the portfolio and provide advice and guidance to all programmes and projects. Performance and Controls: Analyse performance data, monitor progress, and identify areas for improvement. Resource Management: Identify, develop, and utilize resources effectively. Stakeholder Management: Ensure stakeholder responsibilities and needs are understood and addressed. Promote best practice planning, RAID and project management across the portfolio programmes & projects. Leadership and Support: Provide expert advice and support to project teams to ensure successful project delivery. Key Skills/Experience: Excellent planning and scheduling skills. Experience of leading the management of Risks and Issues in a programme/project environment. Experience of managing governance arrangements in a project/programme environment. Strong experience of working with multiple stakeholders in a project/programme environment. Experience of scheduling and supporting Assurance activity. Demonstrable understanding of Change Control processes within a programme/project environment. Demonstrable understanding of Knowledge Management within a programme/project environment. Experience of managing resources in a project/programme environment and allocating assets. Experience of supporting the development/monitoring of budgeting/cost management. Experience of supporting business case development. Experience in Managing Benefits. Experience of developing frameworks and methodologies.
