Job Description
Job purpose:
To carry out all aspects commissioning equipment at factory and customer sites worldwide.
To conduct maintenance of associated facilities and equipment to ensure the accurate delivery of the Commissioning process to the highest standards.
To assist with pre commissioning activities in testing of the equipment as required prior to delivery to site.
Main responsibilities:
As a Commissioning Engineer, you will demonstrate leadership, a willingness to accept responsibility and the ability to supervise and develop other engineers. You must demonstrate the ability to work well in a team, encouraging co-operation in others and working independently when required.
Conduct product commissioning activities at factory and customer sites worldwide in accordance with procedures, specifications and regulations, ensuring the successful handover of equipment to their customers. This will include both Electrical and Mechanical aspects of testing, cold and hot commissioning of various gas turbine packages and associated equipment, validating equipment and ensuring compliance with customer requirements.
Flexible attitude towards working location and working hours, global travel to client sites as and when required to meet agreed deadlines. The post holder is expected to travel extensively overseas to global customer sites to commission products onsite. This post will be Newton Abbot site based when travel is not required and it is likely when not commissioning the Commissioning Engineer will provide support to other departments such as test and controls.
Prepare and diligently follow detailed Commissioning schedules, procedures and programmes.
Accurately document commissioning data, collating in respective databases, and/or promptly communicate to respective parties
Undertake and manage a wide variety of activities, prioritising workload to meet changing work schedules in a rapidly changing environment, including supervising and controlling onsite sub-contractors and activities to ensure that the work is completed to the necessary quality standard and timescale.
Monitoring work areas and plant for maintenance and calibration, ensuring availability and conducting maintenance and calibration activities following procedures, documenting and reporting results, improving practices and identifying areas for improvement.
Qualifications and Skills:
Knowledge and experience in the testing and commissioning of gas turbine packages/industrial machinery and installations
Multi-disciplined qualified engineer, HNC/HND or degree in an engineering discipline, or equivalent experience
Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills
Ability to understand technical electrical and mechanical drawings
Excellent fault-finding skills on both electrical and mechanical equipment.
PLC control code understanding and development experience (Allen Bradley RS Logix is preferred)
SCADA understanding and development experience (Wonderware preferred)
Generator protection knowledge and experience
Strong computer literacy
Well-informed regarding Health and Safety legislation
Understanding of Gas turbine and ancillary equipment operation and control
Knowledge of gas turbine performance test requirements
Salary: £50,000-£60,000 + £20,000 on average uplift for time spent away
