Hays Recruitment are working with a number of partnership schools in the Halton area. We are proud to be supporting a high school in Widnes as they are looking to recruit an experienced and motivated Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with SEN in Year 8 on a 1:1 basis for the full academic year. This pupil has an EHCP so you will be required to regularly liaise with the SENCo and parents/guardians.
Your new role
In your new role as an SEN Teaching Assistant within this school, you will be supporting a pupil with ASC (Autistic Spectrum Condition) in year 8 on a 1:1 basis. You will be this pupils' main point of contact throughout the school day, meeting them at the school gate and walking them back to their parents/guardian at the end of the school day. You will build a strong constructive relationship with this pupil by engaging with them, taking a strong interest in what interests them, which will in turn enable you to effectively manage their triggers and promote their engagement during lessons. You will integrate yourself into the pupils' routine to not escalate behaviours/trigger.
What you'll need to succeed
To be considered in your application, you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK as well as recent referenceable experience supporting children and young people with SEN, as well as:
1. Previous experience working with ASC, ASD or similar needs
2. The ability to take a person centred approach to learning
3. An NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualificaiton in Support Teaching and Learning is advantageous but not essential
