Bristol location
We are pleased to announce we are retained with a long-established client who boasts an impressive range of clients and continuously secures new and exciting projects on a global basis. We are looking to speak with Senior CAD Technicians or Digital Designers who are interested in working with a progressive and growing engineering consultancy that has been recognized as ‘Best Place to Work’ and ‘International Consulting Firm of the Year’ at the recent New Civil Engineers (NCE) Awards in 2024.
The opportunity for a Senior CAD Technician to join their team specializes in major projects within the water sector. This role can be based from either Bristol or Exeter offices with hybrid working allowing for a mix of in-office and home-working (the usual pattern for full-time employees is 3 days in office / 2 days from home).
As a Senior CAD Technician, you will work as part of the well-respected Digital Design team, collaborating with highly skilled technicians and engineers to deliver some of the most technically complex and exciting major projects across the water sector. You will be working with a variety of 3D and 2D software – including Civil 3D and Revit – and will offer mentoring and training to more junior colleagues on how to effectively use CAD software.
Duties will include:
1. Preparing project drawings and BIM models, understanding, interpreting, and implementing local client CAD standards and BIM data requirements.
2. Collaborating with engineers, consultants, and technicians from multiple disciplines.
3. Managing regional workload plans and establishing and maintaining delivery deadlines.
4. Developing and mentoring local Digital Design teams.
5. Working within Common Data Environments.
About you:
You will have prior experience working as a CAD Technician, Senior CAD Technician, or in a similar digital delivery role, ideally within the water sector. In addition, you will be able to demonstrate that you have:
1. Experience in developing design deliverables in collaboration with multi-discipline design team members.
2. Worked in Common Data Environments using Data Management Systems such as BIM360 and ProjectWise.
3. Used 3D CAD software such as Civil 3D or Revit.
4. The ability to organize your workload across multiple projects.
5. A willingness to mentor less experienced colleagues.
Finally, you will embody a passion for innovation and client service, with ambitions to tackle a range of challenges as the team looks to continue its growth within the sector.
