Red Sky are recruiting a Workshop Controller/ Workshop Manager for a state of the art Workshop based at Heathrow Airport. The Safety & Training Delivery Lead is responsible for undertaking audits and reviews to ensure that health and safety regulations, relevant company policies, and agreed best practices are reported on within our organisation, and as necessary those of clients with which the organisation is contracted to work. This includes monitoring health and safety policies, conducting risk assessments, providing training, and promoting a good safety culture, delivering against audit requests and action points, and sharing best practices across the business.
Up to £45k p/a
Monday to Friday 0900 to 5:30pm with flexibility.
Workshop Controller/ Workshop Manager Main Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Utilise training reports to push for 100% mandatory training compliance
2. Prepare and deliver toolbox talks on key safety themes within both workshops
3. Monitor external and internal training and keep records in line with ISO best practice
4. Work closely with the safety reps to keep site schedules up to date and deliver against action points
5. Conduct regular risk assessments and site inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with stated aims and safety regulations, maintaining accurate records of all inspections and audits
6. Organise and deliver health & safety training
7. Promote a positive health & safety culture within the organisation through communication and engagement initiatives
8. Support the preparation and delivery of staff briefings and toolbox talks
9. Follow up and deliver against Health & Safety actions from inspections and audits
10. Ensure tooling and Equipment is within calibration and up to the TCR working standard
11. Incident near misses and observations management and investigation
12. Proactively log and follow up investigations in Quintic (in-house H&S application)
13. Support Operations Managers with LTI Autopsy investigations/mitigation
14. Top 3 Safety risks by area are identified and mitigation is applied
15. Regular PPE/LMRA compliance inspections are vigorously applied
16. Coordinate and oversee staff development in line with company expectations
17. Be present within the Workshop environment and take a proactive approach in dealing with safety actions
Workshop Controller/ Workshop Manager Knowledge and Skills:
1. Good written and verbal communication skills
2. Numerate, literate and analytical, with elementary data analysis skills
3. MS Excel & MS Word skills [Essential]
4. Attention to detail
5. Results focused
6. Adhere to the Company Quality, Health and Safety and Environmental policies
7. Follow Safe Systems Of Work procedures in line with the ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO45001 and OHSAS18001 management system framework
Workshop Controller/ Workshop Manager Experience:
1. Experience as a vehicle technician and willingness to train new starters
2. Auditing and investigation skills
3. Experience of collaborating with external and internal customers/stakeholders
4. Airside pass and airside driving
5. Previous experience in an Aviation or heavy vehicle setting (desirable)
6. Detailed knowledge of regulatory requirements
7. Experience of working with company processes and procedures and adhering to company standards of practice
Workshop Controller/ Workshop Manager Qualifications:
1. Undergraduate or equivalent qualification desirable
2. Full UK Driving license and willingness to undertake Airside driver training
3. ISOH Managing safety (Essential or willing to work towards within 12 months)
4. NEBOSH or willingness to work towards (desirable)
5. Professional training qualification or willingness to work towards within 12 months (essential)
