Our Crisis, Assessment and Treatment (CAT) Team in S-CAMHS in Hywel Dda University Health Board, has a permanent post for a full time Band 8b Clinical, Counselling or Forensic Psychologist (opportunity for A4C Annex 21 development post if required). The successful candidate will be responsible for developing a Psychology perspective within the team to include assessment, formulation and developing psychological interventions. It will include both work in in-patient and community settings and cover the whole of the Health Board footprint, with a base in Carmarthen. The Team works closely with the locality S-CAMHS teams, our DBT Service, our Forensic Service and the Eating Disorder Service. The post holder will also be asked to contribute to the development and clinical work within our new and exciting Wellbeing Hwb, which is designed to provide a safe space for young people, with the aim of reducing the need for admission. Development of special interests in line with service needs will be encouraged and the post-holder will be part of a friendly and cohesive Psychology service across the wider S-CAMHS.
Main duties of the job
The CAT Team works with children and young people who present with significant distress and in crisis, making the clinical work varied and interesting. The successful applicant will work with complex presentations, including young people with repeated self-harm, suicidal ideation and eating disorders. The close links with the DBT, Forensic and Eating Disorder Services result in a supportive and stimulating environment in which to work. The post holder will not only engage in clinical work, but will also be responsible for facilitating team formulation and training, service audit, evaluation and monitoring of outcomes, and will assist the Service Manager with development of the service. Our new Wellbeing Hwb, the first of its kind in Wales is fully operational and the successful applicant will be required to support this development and provide clinical input.

The post is advertised as Band 8b. However, applicants who do not currently meet all the skills and competences for the Band 8b role, are encouraged to apply and, if successful, will be appointed under Agenda for Change Arrangement for Pay and Banding of Trainees (Annex 21) supported by a development plan for 12 months. Following successful completion and successful attainment of skills and competences for the role, the post holder will then be paid at Band 8b (minimum point on the scale). Continued support and supervision will be provided in order to develop the practitioner to the Band 8b role.

Qualifications and Knowledge
Essential
* Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical, forensic or counselling psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS.
* Registration with the HCPC as a Practitioner Psychologist
* Training also to specifically include models of psychopathology and two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology.
* Significant post qualification training in therapeutic work with young people who have significant self harm, suicidal ideation with associated plans and intent, emotional dysregulation and significant mental health problems.
* Knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group and mental health.
* Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by the BPS & HCPC.
* Further relevant specialist training or experience or qualification.
Desirable
* Training in one or more additional specialized areas of psychological Practice.
* Experience of working in an inpatient unit for children and young people
* Training and experience in working with young people with eating disorders.

* Significant experience in conducting and interpreting cognitive/neuropsychological assessment and clinical psychometrics.
* Significant experience of working with a wide variety of client groups across the whole life course and presenting with the full range of clinical severity across the full range of care settings including outpatient, community, primary care, in-patient and residential care settings severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse.
* Significant post qualification experience of assessing and managing risk in children and young people
* Significant post qualification experience of therapeutic work with young people who have significant self harm, suicidal ideation with associated plans and intent, emotional dysregulation and significant mental health problems.
* Extensive experience of working with children and young people with significant mental health problems.
* Extensive experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for clients' psychological care and treatment within the context of a multidisciplinary care plan.
* Experience of leading projects related to quality of service provision and service development.
* Experience of teaching, training and clinical supervision of staff working with children and young people with complex presentations
