Senior renal Technologist required for a busy Technical renal unit based in Oxford and assisting the Renal Technical manager in ensuring a service to the OKU is fulfilled, 1. Assist the technical manager in daily managerial and administrative tasks within the technical department 2. Co-ordinate with the technical manager in organising daily work schedules for technical staff 3. Assist the technical manager in budgetary control 4. Responsible for the technical department in the absence of the technical manager 5. Procurement of spares and ancillary equipment for the department 6. Provide preventative maintenance and repair of highly specialised equipment for the treatment of chronic and acute renal failure located in the Oxford Radcliffe Trust, Co-providers Units and patients homes, The Renal Directorate consists of three Clinical Delivery Units (CDUs) that are centrally managed by the Directorate Manager in conjunction with the Renal Directorate Chair. The Renal Directorate includes the Renal Medicine CDU, Transplant CDU and Urology CDU all based on the Churchill Hospital site. The Renal Medicine and Renal Transplant CDUs provide a specialist service for the surrounding counties, with satellite units in Milton Keynes, High Wycombe, Aylesbury, Banbury and Swindon and home dialysis patients. The Transplant CDU provides Kidney transplantation for six counties and includes the Transplant Immunology Laboratory. The Urology CDU extends its service to the Horton Hospital in Banbury. OVERALL OBJECTIVES To assist the technical manager as required and participate with other technical staff in providing an efficient and effective technical service for the renal directorate, 1. Provide preventative maintenance and repair of specialised central haemodialysis water purification plant in the Oxford Radcliffe Trust and Co-provider Units 8. Provide preventative maintenance and repair of specialised portable haemodialysis water purification equipment in intensive care and high dependency units and patients homes 9. Installation and removal of haemodialysis and portable haemodialysis water purification equipment for short term use in Intensive Care and High Dependency Units within the Trust 10. Installation and removal of haemodialysis and portable haemodialysis water purification equipment in patient homes 11. Provide technical support and advice to clinical staff, patients and their carers for all haemodialysis equipment 12. Provide an out of hours on-call service for technical support and advice for Oxford Haemodialysis Unit, Co-provider Units and home patients 13. Provide a routine sterilisation program for specialised central haemodialysis water purification plant in the Oxford Haemodialysis Unit and Co-provider Units without disruption of routine haemodialysis treatment 14. Provide on-site testing of all water purification equipment and arrange remote analysis by accredited laboratories of the purified water samples to ensure the treated water conforms to national haemodialysis standards 15. Determine and instigate preventative action where deteriorating water quality is observed 16. Record all work carried out onto individual paper records and backup on a electronic database 17. Evaluation of new therapies as part of the multidisciplinary team 18. Developing new ideas to improve treatment provided to haemodialysis patients 19. Participation in supervision and training and guidance of other staff as necessary in workshop practice 20. Participation in training of patients, clinical staff in functions and basic fault finding of haemodialysis equipment 21. Provide technical assessment and advice on new dialysis and related equipment prior to purchase 22. Writing of operating procedures and working instructions for dialysis staff and patients., The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
