About the Role
Maidstone Museums are looking for a passionate, enthusiastic and friendly person to work in our high quality, customer focused service.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Museum Team at Maidstone Borough Council and support a busy Visitor Experience department. The Visitor Experience Officer will assist the Visitor Experience & Operations Supervisor in delivering a welcoming and safe environment for the residents and visitors of Maidstone to enjoy the Museum’s collections, events and exhibitions.
This varied role means working with several aspects of the Museum’s front of house offer including the Museum shop, Tourist Information, general property and operational management, room hires and our successful children’s parties. We are particularly interested in individuals who would like to help develop our retail offer.
You will engage with Museum and Council colleagues, as well as members of the public to help achieve a thriving, friendly and inclusive Museum Visitor Service. We’re looking for someone who can confidently bring new ideas and energy to the Museum; likes working with and talking to our visitors and ideally has an interest in Heritage or Culture.
This is a permanent role working on an annualised hours contract, equating to 23.5 hours per week, meaning regular Saturday and 6 day working weeks during school holiday working patterns.

About You
You will have experience of working in a customer focused environment with a commitment to delivering high standards of service. You will have the ability to communicate and engage well with different audiences.
You will be adaptable and enjoy working in a varied role, from setting up rooms for hire to dealing with customer enquiries or complaints, and processing retails payments.
You will be a team player, with flexibility to work outside of normal hours including weekends, school holidays and some evenings/early mornings as required. Holding a first aid qualification would be an advantage, although relevant training will be provided.
Selection Process
