IT Technician – School in Sunderland

About the Role:
Protocol Education is seeking an experienced and proactive IT Technician to support the IT infrastructure of a secondary school in Sunderland. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong technical skills and a passion for supporting education to ensure the smooth operation of all IT systems across the school. The role is initially on a temporary basis, with the potential for a permanent position.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide first-line technical support to staff and students, addressing hardware, software, and network issues
* Install, configure, and maintain IT equipment, including PCs, laptops, printers, projectors, and interactive whiteboards
* Manage user accounts, permissions, and security settings in accordance with school policies
* Troubleshoot network and Wi-Fi connectivity issues, ensuring minimal disruption to school operations
* Assist with the installation, updating, and maintenance of software and server systems
* Maintain inventory records of all IT equipment and manage repairs or replacements when necessary
* Support school events by providing technical assistance with AV and IT equipment
* Collaborate with teaching staff to enhance the use of technology in the classroom
Requirements:
* Proven experience as an IT Technician, ideally in a school or educational setting
* Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems, networking, and hardware troubleshooting
* Familiarity with server management and cloud-based systems
* Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to support staff and students effectively
* Relevant IT certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Microsoft certifications) are advantageous
