This is an exciting opportunity to join the newly formed, forward-thinking Raw Materials organization. Reporting to the Strategy Procurement Manager, you will have global responsibility for JLR’s long-term commercial strategy for the Polymers commodity within raw materials.
This role involves extensive market research, supplier relationship management, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure a resilient and future-proof supply chain.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
Strategy
· You will work with the wider internal JLR ecosystem of stakeholders to identify corporate wants & needs to meet compliance & regulatory requirements including but not limited to ELV (End of Vehicle Life) & ESG (Environment Social Governance).
· Working alongside the respective Senior Procurement Manager & the Procurement Manager, you will contribute significantly to scoping, drafting and publishing the Strategic Commodity Plan, ensuring all relevant data and key factors are captured in order to make strategic recommendations.
· A level of data analysis and modelling is expected to support storytelling, hypothesising and presentation content creation.
· You will support in ensuring the global commercial category strategy is effectively deployed throughout all of JLR and the external supply chain, influencing stakeholders where appropriate on aligned supplier engagement approaches.
Commercial
· You will be responsible for the creation, negotiation and implementation of long-term commercial plans and contract framework agreements for a Raw Material commodity, constantly investigating new opportunities and solutions as well as innovation.
Market & reporting analysis
· Conduct comprehensive market analysis to identify trends, opportunities and risks within the commodity.
· Monitor market trends, market conditions, pricing and emerging technologies & validate opportunities with wider peer group
· Analyse competitor activities and the breadth of supplier landscape and their portfolio offerings.
Sustainability & innovation
· You will champion sustainability initiatives and seek, identify and assess materials that meet the expectations of JLR’s wider sustainability initiatives within the procurement process, ensuring raw materials meet JLR’s wider sustainability initiatives.
· Engage with external partners to understand and identify materials that collaborate with R&D and product development teams to explore and integrate innovative raw materials into product lines.
Risk Management
· You will be responsible for conducting risks assessments across the full breath of supply chain risks (including but not limited to supplier financials, supply & material exposure, geopolitical risks, logistics, upstream material exposure).
· Liaise with the wider JLR resilience network to document & communicate risks.
· Work with suppliers to validate risks exposure and mitigate where possible.
Regulatory & Compliance
· You will drive contribution and adherence to category legislation and our challenging, long-term corporate sustainability targets through de-carbonisation of your category areas and a focus on circularity and LCA (life-cycle assessment).
· You will play an integral role in portfolio projects to ensure that the commodity is fit for purpose and meets any changes and/or new demands.
Cost Management
· You will support the Procurement Manager in identifying, validating new and/or alternative commercials ways of operating.
· This will include thorough due diligence and validating with wider internal stakeholders.
Stakeholder Management (Internal) & Supplier Relationship Management (External)
· You will develop deep industry and global supplier knowledge and be responsible for the establishment of direct raw material supply route focussed on new technologies in the field and exploring potential for strategic partnerships.
· Alongside the Sourcing and Category Management procurement team, you will plan and execute a robust Supplier Relationship Management strategy for your suppliers in line with the future strategy - based on QCDIS (quality, cost, delivery, innovation and sustainability) criteria and supplier segmentation.
· You will be responsible for driving successful relationships with a range of key internal stakeholders, often at manager and senior leadership level. This is a pivotal role that will act as a core conduit for true cross functional working, representing strategic procurement across key teams and functions throughout procurement, industrial operations, materials engineering, design, product sustainability/strategy/delivery, finance and legal.
· Additionally, you will be required to establish external relationships with key third-party organisations such as industry associations and relevant working bodies, as well as representing JLR at key industry conferences and events.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential:
· Degree qualified, CIPS or equivalent experience
· Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
