Job summary Exciting Opportunity for a Specialist Nurse in Oncology/Haematology The Chemotherapy Day Unit is seeking a dedicated and motivated specialist nurse to join our dynamic team. We are looking for a compassionate and skilled professional with excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. In this role, you will provide high-quality care to chemotherapy patients in a busy, nurse-led day unit. While you will work independently, you will also play a key role within our supportive team. This position offers the opportunity to further your professional development, with additional study available within six months of appointment and the chance to be adopted by Macmillan. If you are passionate about delivering exceptional oncology care, we would love to hear from you Main duties of the job To work as a member of the nursing team led by senior nurses to provide high quality nursing care to patients within the Haematology Day Unit. o To plan, implement, deliver, and evaluate nursing care within the day unito To be responsible for high standards of nursing careo To assist in the auditing of patient care and service deliveryo To maintain good nursing documentation in accordance with trust policyo To ensure safe and appropriate discharge from the Day Unit following consultation/treatmento To manage and advise patients and other members of staff on peripheral and central lineso To be able to interpret blood results and act accordinglyo To acquire, use, develop and teach additional skills e.g. venesection, cannulation and venepuncture Leadership To plan, organise and deploy staff according to competencies and workload. To take an active part in appraisal and the setting and achieving of personal objectives. Attend departmental and Trust meetings as appropriate.
