Speech and Language Therapy Administrator

Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a full-time administrator to join the Adult Speech and Language Therapy team. The role will be based at Helston Health Centre, providing administrative support to the service and its clinical staff across the county. Daily tasks will be varied but will include undertaking the initial administrative stages of patient registration and triage for new Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) patients, communicating with service users, signposting patients and staff, and managing the Speech and Language Therapy email accounts and phone lines.
Main Duties of the Job
Duties and responsibilities will include:
1. Making appointments using the relevant patient information system.
2. Typing correspondence, including administrative support to the SLT Team, and printing letters to Consultants, GPs, and other healthcare professionals.
3. Answering telephone calls, checking emails, and phone messages, using acquired knowledge and judgement in actioning appropriately while adhering to strict standard operating procedures and ensuring contemporaneous records of events.
4. Coordinating complaints and exercising judgement when dealing with enquiries, knowing when to manage the enquiry personally and when to refer to a manager.
5. Managing your own diary and prioritizing work.
6. Maintaining adequate stock levels of appropriate supplies for the locations covered, including ordering stock.
7. Discharging patients from active caseloads as directed by the clinical team.
8. Assisting the team in the collection of information for various audits.
9. Using reporting systems to log any maintenance/equipment testing requirements as directed by the team lead.

Knowledge and Abilities
* Able to work in a pressured work setting.
* Ability to work on own initiative and problem-solve.
* Good organizational skills.
Education, Qualifications & Experience
* Good basic education including English GCSE or equivalent.
* Administration experience within a busy office environment.
* Proven use of Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint).
* Good written and verbal communication skills.
* RSA II typing.
* Previous NHS experience.
