Teaching Personnel have an exciting opportunity to work with a SEN school based in Reading. The school caters for pupils aged 5-16 with autism spectrum conditions, severe to moderate learning difficulties, and complex needs.
Job Summary of a Teacher
* Be responsible for the quality of teaching and learning of all pupils who are assigned to the post holder, having responsibility for their progress, welfare, and outcomes.
* Supervise the work of any support staff who are assigned to work with the post holder’s pupils.
* Provide leadership across the school in a curriculum area, this to include:
1. monitoring quality and standards
2. contributing to school planning and self-evaluation
3. providing professional support to other teachers and support staff
4. advising the Head of Education on appropriate resources and materials
1. Implement the aims of the school.
Knowledge and Qualifications:
* PGCE, QTS or equivalent teaching qualification and evidence of in-service training.
* Working knowledge of special education needs including relevant curriculum and learning plans.
Skills:
* Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
* Ability to coach and mentor LSAs, Teaching Assistants, etc.
* Ability to adapt teaching and communication skills, both written and verbal according to the audience.
* Effective skills in planning, preparation, recording, and reviewing students’ progress.
* Working knowledge of supporting pupils with ASD and those with complex communication and behavioural needs.
* Ability to identify and de-escalate emotional and behavioural issues.
Experience:
* Knowledge and personal experience of special needs, disabilities, behaviour management, and associated issues.
* Experience of working in an ASD/SLD environment would be desirable.
