We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Band 6 Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) for one of the trusts in Manchester. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mental health nursing, excellent communication skills, and a passion for providing high-quality patient care. The Trust provides mental health, learning disability, and community services to people across Greater Manchester and beyond.
Description:
Senior Mental Health Practitioners (SMHP) conduct biopsychosocial assessments and Initial Conversations with individuals presenting with mental health difficulties, social care needs, and risk issues at a primary care level. The aim is to promote recovery and help individuals maintain their lives within their community environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assess risk and devise risk management plans with service users as part of the Duty function.
2. Promote self-management and enable service users to engage with other parts of LWT, offering advice to colleagues when necessary.
3. Offer brief interventions (maximum 12 weeks), including coping strategies, problem-solving, motivational and behavioral activation work, anxiety management, risk management and suicide prevention, medication support, promoting social and interagency support, providing psychological support, and biopsychosocial education aimed at insight development.
4. Promote self-help through resources and signposting, and review treatment plans with service users deemed too complex for other parts of LWT or who may not meet the criteria for secondary care services.
Key Requirements:
5. Must possess RMN / RNMH / Social Worker / OT or equivalent qualifications.
6. Completion of Preparation for Mentorship / Practice Teacher is desirable, along with significant post-registration experience.
Experience:
7. Registered Nurse - Mental Health / Learning Disability.
8. Demonstrated knowledge of mental health practice from previous experience.
9. Effective risk assessment and risk management experience.
10. Experience in delivering clinical interventions.
11. Experience in working within a team delivering person-centered treatment packages.
