Sitka is delighted to be heading up the search for the new Finance Director for Platfform, the mental health and social change charity based in South Wales. This is a brilliant and exciting role for a talented and experienced accountant, one who is keen to work for an organisation that is values and people led.

As their new Finance Director, you will be a seasoned senior finance professional and technically sound qualified accountant. You will be a natural leader and strategic thinker, and as part of the executive team you will challenge decision making whilst demonstrating a desire for change and advancement across the organisation. You will connect with Platfform's purpose and show a collaborative and collegiate approach to your work.
The job
* Ensure the timely preparation and delivery of regular and accurate financial reporting to all relevant people across the organisation.
* Ensure organisational compliance for financial and legal obligations, including suitable robust internal financial controls and risk management arrangements are in place.
* Develop and maintain all necessary systems, policies, and procedures to ensure effective and efficient financial management.
* Lead the development of a resilient and sustainable financial strategy in pursuit of whole organisation strategy and purpose.
* Enable and facilitate colleagues and trustees to connect with the long-term financial strategy for Platfform.
* Provide compassionate and strong leadership to the finance department.
* Lead, motivate and inspire colleagues across multiple teams to connect and contribute to organisational plans.
* Present and develop open and transparent relationships with all people across the organisation.
* Ensure internal teams/departments receive an efficient and high-quality customer focused service, to enable all budget holders to manage their budgets and contracts effectively.
* Develop a high performing finance team, ensuring accountabilities and responsibilities are clear across the department and colleagues are supported in line with our organisation values.
* Take a lead role in maintaining external relationships, such as (but not limited to) Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), accountants/auditors, commercial banking (Barclays), Charities Commission, Insurance etc.
* Develop and maintain links with organisations, individuals, and networks in pursuit of Platfform’s strategic aims.
* Keep abreast of developments in the sector at a local and national level and how they might impact on Platfform.
The person specification
* Qualified ACCA/ACA/CIMA accountant with significant financial leadership experience across either the public, private and/or third sector.
* Strong finance background in both financial and management accounting environments.
* Psychologically minded, can sit with uncertainty and help others to sit with uncertainty too.
* Demonstrable experience of working in a diverse organisation and capable of dealing with challenging environments.
* Work well with high levels of autonomy, showing exceptional judgement; restorative and solution focused in your approach.
* Enthused about building resilience whilst enabling growth and ambition to be realised in pursuit of strategy and purpose.
* Ability to connect to Platfform's values and what you can bring to the organisation to help lead on delivering their vision.
Salary & benefits
* £60,000 - £65,000 (up to £68,000 for exceptional candidate). Note - executive remuneration currently under review.
* Pension is 6.5% employer contribution.
* 26 days annual leave plus bank holidays (increasing to 30 days).
