Job Details: Job Summary: The Network Engineer undertakes a consultancy and operational support role within the Network team to support the management and operation of customer networks. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: Provide support and resolution to network-related incidents and service requests within defined service level agreements (SLAs) Take ownership of network changes, ensuring compliance with defined procedures and ensuring clear and effective communication with all relevant stakeholders Monitor and report on network health using management tools including Solarwinds Network Performance Manager Perform daily network health checks to identify and rectify any potential issues in a timely manner Install and commission network infrastructure platforms including switches, routers, firewalls and load balancers Administer network protocols and technologies including: MPLS, BGP, OSPF, IPSEC, PVST, LCP Create and maintain accurate, clear and comprehensive network documentation Participate in the recommendation of new network equipment to meet project requirements Work closely with other areas of the business to provide appropriate solutions and specialist support/advice for projects and variation orders as required Ensure application availability, performance, scalability and security throughout Cubic’s networks by using traffic management, delivery and acceleration techniques in conjunction with WAN optimisation caching and quality of service methods. Take responsibility for customer project deliverables Support and develop other team members as required Provide 3rd line support, including out-of-hours support in critical incidents and participate in on-call support Attend other Cubic or customer sites and data centres as required Comply with Cubic’s values and adherence to all company policy and procedures. Minimum Job Requirements: Skills knowledge and experience: Essential: Demonstrable experience in configuring, implementing, installing, commissioning and supporting complex multi-site voice and data LAN and WAN network solutions based predominantly on Cisco products In-depth understanding of network infrastructure routing and switching concepts and technologies, advanced IP addressing, dynamic routing protocols In-depth understanding of end to end secure network concepts, technologies and protocols including Access control, Next generation, Web application and Stateful firewalls technologies, Intrusion prevention, Encryption (IPSEC, SSL, PKI), Security event information management systems, Proxy services Proven troubleshooting and problem diagnosis skills Platform technology knowledge and experience of: Cisco Branch and Edge Routers Cisco data centre, SAN fabric and Campus LAN Switches, including Nexus 5-7K Cisco ASA,FTD firewalls, FortiGate experience must IPS/IDS Load balancer experience like F5 or Fortinet ADC. Knowledge of MPLS, Secure and resilient routing solutions, Load balancing and traffic management, Quality of Service (QOS), and Mobile communications An understanding of the principles of data centre management Azure/AWS cloud networking experience.
