Job responsibilities
We are looking for a Consultant to join the Diabetic and Endocrinology team to partake in ward rounds on our combined speciality and general medical patients alongside running a weekly diabetic and endocrinology clinic. We welcome a candidate with an interest in leading on the antenatal service.
The Diabetic and Endocrinology department is part of the Medical and Emergency Care Division. The Consultants in the department are on the GIM rota running a 1:12 roster and the candidate would occupy one of these slots.
It is expected the post holder will be conducting a minimum of 2 outpatient clinics a week and up to 3 inclusive of a specialised clinic if there are speciality interests. The candidate is also encouraged to take part in audit and research.
The Diabetes and Endocrinology consultants all share a management of inpatient bedded named Jade ward (a 24 combined bedded ward currently covered with 2 consultants) and run a 5-day a week AM speciality In-Reach service for ED, SDEC and outlier patients.
Secretarial support and an adequately equipped office will be provided including IT facilities.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Basic Medical Degree
* MRCP UK or equivalent
* Higher qualifications
* CCT or equivalent in Diabetes/Endocrine and GIM or within 6 months of CCT date at time of interview
* Entry on the General Medical Council (GMC) Specialist Register via one of the following: a) Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in General (Internal) Medicine and Diabetes & Endocrinology (the proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of the interview) b) Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) or equivalent from the European Union.
