Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Legal Secretary to join our legal team. The successful candidate will provide essential administrative support to lawyers and legal staff, ensuring the smooth operation of the office. This role requires excellent organisational skills, proficiency in various software applications, and the ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.
Responsibilities
1. Prepare and format legal documents, correspondence, and reports using Microsoft Word and Excel
2. Conduct audio typing for dictations from solicitors
3. Manage schedules, appointments, and meetings using Outlook
4. Maintain accurate filing systems for both electronic and paper documents
5. Assist in the preparation of case files and documentation for court proceedings
6. Communicate with clients, courts, and other legal professionals to facilitate case management
7. Perform general administrative duties such as answering phones, managing emails, and ordering office supplies
8. Ensure compliance with legal procedures and confidentiality standards
Qualifications
1. Proven experience as a Legal Secretary or in a similar administrative role within a legal environment
2. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
3. Strong audio typing skills are highly desirable
4. Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
5. Strong IT skills with a good understanding of office equipment and software applications
6. Exceptional organisational skills with attention to detail
7. Ability to communicate clearly and professionally both verbally and in writing
8. A proactive approach to problem-solving with strong interpersonal skills
