You need to possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to actively support the Modern Matron in delivering a high-quality service. You must have considerable experience to include Gastroenterology Nursing, and Colorectal surgery. Demonstrable evidence of clinical leadership and a strong track record in service improvement and ensuring the highest standards in clinical services to benefit patients and their families and friends Main duties of the job Act as an advocate for the patient through effective support and information enabling them to make choices and decisions concerning treatment and their care. Accept responsibility; be aware and able to locate all policies relating to good working practice within the clinical area and able to adhere to both by self and colleagues, and to challenge staff about their location. Ensure carer / family and visitors are aware of policies, standards/guidelines relevant to the patient care or the clinical area. Ensure effective communication with people where there is a degree of confusion or need for clarity e.g. complainants, misunderstanding with staff and patients. Meet face to face with complainants and communicate in a manner to enable constructive outcomes to beachieved. Ensure any barriers to understanding are overcome. Plan to resolve complaints at local level and respond to written complaints enabling a constructive outcome within the Trust Complaints Policy. Ensure effective communication within the team, conduct and attend meetings, and ensure staff' attend regular team meetings. This may include having to share sensitive and contentious information with staff and positively overcoming a hostile response.
