Job Opportunity: Second Chef
We are currently recruiting for a Second Chef to join our Hospitality team. Working as a Second Chef at Runwood Homes offers the opportunity to deliver hotel/restaurant standards without split shifts and long hours. We seek warm, motivated, and passionate chefs driven by quality and high standards, to provide person-centred hospitality to our residents. At Runwood Homes, we foster an open, honest, and supportive environment where quality of care is paramount.
Key Responsibilities
1. Maintain high standards in all stages of food preparation to ensure residents' well-being.
2. Prepare and serve meals according to the menu and company requirements.
3. Ensure compliance with Food Safety & Hygiene Regulations (England 2013 / Northern Ireland 2006).
4. Produce meals with quality presentation and taste.
5. Maintain portion control to minimize waste.
6. Meet individual dietary requirements (e.g., high calorie, low sugar) by following appropriate recipes and adapting dishes as needed.
7. Maintain systems and checks to ensure a safe, healthy, and efficient working environment.
8. Store all food and supplies correctly.
9. Monitor stock levels, rotate stock effectively, and place orders when required.
10. Deputise for the Head Chef when necessary.
Experience & Qualifications
1. Relevant experience in catering.
2. NVQ Level 2 or City & Guilds equivalent.
3. Team player.
4. Understanding of dietary and nutritional requirements and methods to meet them.
5. Genuine interest in working within a caring environment.
6. Effective communication skills at all levels.
7. Satisfactory police check and ISA list clearance (if applicable).
8. Basic understanding of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
