If you have the skills to keep our waste operations running smoothly, we want to hear from you Job Title: Waste Porter Location: Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital, Colney Ln, Norwich NR4 7UY Remuneration: £12.21 paid weekly Contract Details: Temporary, 3 months possibility of extension or to go perm Working Pattern: Full time - Monday to Friday, 6am to 2pm. Required to cover 1 Saturday every 4 weeks from 10am to 4pm. Responsibilities: As a Waste Porter, you'll be at the heart of our hospital operations. Your key responsibilities will include: The safe movement of hospital logistics waste by use of electric vehicles around the hospital site as stated in the Service Level Specification. Receipt, sort, store and prepare for collection all types of waste and linen to ensure the efficient disposal as specified in company policies. Drive electric vehicles in specified areas adhering to Health and Safety procedures and work instructions. - Report machinery faults including pre-shift inspection of electric vehicles or Health and Safety hazards to the department team leader for action and resolution. Ensure that high personal hygiene and infection control standards are maintained in relation to personal tasks. Ensure that all work, records, and paperwork is carried out in line with Health and Safety, Quality and Serco and Trust policies and procedures. Communicate effectively with colleagues and Trust staff, so that requirements of task are understood, and Trust staff and logistics porters are informed of timeframes of movements. Ensure company policies and procedures are adhered to and operational changes are implemented for the development of the logistics service. Build relationships with Trust Nursing staff, Management and Colleagues to enable the efficient resolution of logistics department issues. Participate as a full member of the logistics team, through supporting and carrying out training, working flexibly as required to cover other members of the team. Undertake other ad hoc duties as prescribed by the logistics manager and within scope of skill and capability Maintain accurate records and filing systems both manually and computer in a timely and effective manner Ideal Candidate: We're looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has: A Basic DBS check or willingness to obtain one (essential). A proactive approach to safety and awareness of hazardous materials. Excellent teamwork and communication skills. Working Conditions: This role involves working within the hospital environment, including exposure to adverse weather conditions in the loading bay. Please note that there is no onsite parking available unless you're using a motorbike or bicycle. However, paid parking with park and ride options are available for your convenience.
