We are currently recruiting an Environment, Health & Safety Compliance Officer for our client in Aberdeen.
This is a full-time, staff position.
Responsibilities include providing competent Health & Safety advice to ensure legal compliance and promote best practices across North Sea operations. The role involves supporting regulatory inspections, investigations, and developing improvements to the Business Management System.
* Ensure compliance with legislation, policies, guidance, and best practices in collaboration with managers, technical authorities, and process owners.
* Support onshore and offshore teams to ensure activities comply with relevant legislation and industry standards.
* Assist in regulatory submissions and reporting, including incident reportability guidance.
* Ensure adherence to UK statutory provisions and recognized industry guidelines.
* Interface with regulatory bodies during inspections, investigations, and enforcement actions.
* Travel offshore for investigations, training, audits, and inspections as needed.
* Conduct on-site safety inspections and ensure standards are maintained.
* Support emergency response planning and participate in exercises.
* Manage the Business Management System and legislative register, communicating changes to relevant departments.
* Support corporate objectives and initiatives.
Desired Qualities/Qualifications:
* Relevant university degree or HSE qualification (e.g., NEBOSH).
* Supporting technical or industry certifications.
* Strong knowledge of HSE legislation, standards, and industry best practices.
* Experience with incident investigation methodologies such as COMET, TOPSET, or Tripod.
* Ability to facilitate improvements and manage change effectively.
* Understanding of Human Factors and Major Accident Hazards.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Proficiency in analysis and problem-solving.
* Offshore medical and survival/MIST training certificates are required, with offshore visits as needed.
* Promotes a strong EHS culture.
* Self-motivated, capable of working independently and in teams, with good prioritization skills.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and relationship-building abilities.
