Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen for highly motivated, Biomedical Support Worker, Band 2 to join the Blood Sciences Team at Epsom and St Helier. The department has undergone significant refurbishment in order to provide a state of the art Blood Sciences Laboratory at St Helier Hospital. The department also provides a wide range of services in the combined Blood Sciences Laboratory at Epsom General Hospital. Candidates will have good verbal and written communication skills and be able to work alongside other Biomedical Support Workers and Biomedical Scientists as part of a team. Main duties of the job This post will offer successful applicants the opportunity to support the Trusts out of hours Blood Sciences testing, coupled with other duties including preparing samples for analysis, inputting patient data and dealing with enquiries within Pathology specimen reception. This is a pan pathology post which is a new and innovative approach to delivering patient focused quality care. Epsom and St. Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust is a large acute trust serving South West London and Surrey across two sites. The department supports a range of medical specialties including Accident and Emergency, Maternity, Paediatrics, South West Thames Renal and transplantation service and the South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre. Successful candidates will be required to undergo training and provide a service at any of the Trust sites. Candidates will be required to work early, late and night shifts over a seven day roster including Bank Holidays once fully trained and competent. The weekend and night duties will be paid at an enhanced rate. About us No previous pathology experience is necessary as full training will be provided.
