* We are looking for passionate, enthusiastic newly qualified and experienced children’s nurses committed to excellent patient experience to join our team.
* The candidate would be required to provide excellent nursing care, supervise and mentor Student Nurses and Health Care Assistants, act as an advocate for child and family, and participate and contribute to the management of the unit.

Main duties of the job
* St George’s University Hospital is a renowned centre of excellence and a nationally recognised Trauma Centre.
* We provide specialist care and treatment for children and young people across the south east.
* PICU is a busy 10 ITU beds providing care for children with a variety of health care needs. Specialties include oncology, trauma, paediatric surgery, neurosurgery, neurology, paediatric infectious diseases, and paediatric medicine.
* We also manage a 5 beds High Dependency Unit.

Qualifications and Training
* a) RN (Child)
* b) Experience in assessment, planning, and evaluation of patient care according to individual needs.
Skills
* a) Demonstrate sound written, numeric, and verbal communication skills.
* b) Demonstrate ability to work with and to use resources effectively as part of the MDT.
* c) Ability to prioritise/adapt quickly and organise own workload and the workload of more junior staff.
* d) Ability to use own initiative.
* IV administration course.
Knowledge
* a) Awareness of professional responsibilities.
* b) Demonstrate an understanding of normal child development and the sick child.
* c) Demonstrate an understanding of the role of advocate for the child.
* d) Experience of undertaking small research or audit projects.
Other
* a) Demonstrates a caring and sensitive approach to the needs of patients/parents/guardians/relatives and other staff.
* b) Demonstrate motivation and enthusiasm for the specialty.
* c) Ability to identify stress in self and others and to take effective action to manage the situation.
