Job summary
The current post-holder has been successful in being offered a 12 month secondment to work for the South East London Cancer Alliance.
For this reason, we are able to offer an exciting opportunity for an SLT interested in developing their head and neck cancer rehabilitation skills to join our team for for a period of 12 months.
Applicants will have previous experience of managing head and neck cancer patients.
The role will involve covering three of our community multidisciplinary team clinics, in collaboration with our clinical nurse specialists, physiotherapists, dietitians, psychologist and therapy assistants. The successful applicant will independently manage their caseload, and will have access to support/supervision from the CHANT Clinical Team Lead and SLT Head & Neck clinical lead at GSTFT.
The CHANT service now offers an innovative community FEES service which the post holder would contribute to.

Main duties of the job
To provide highly specialist autonomous clinical management of patients with Head & Neck Cancer referred to the Community Team. To demonstrate an advanced level of clinical decision making to assess, make a clinical diagnosis, develop, implement and evaluate specialised treatment programmes.
As an autonomous member of the Head & Neck Community Team to participate in team decision making regarding organisation and prioritisation of the clinical caseload and work within the multidisciplinary team framework to provide co-ordinated multi-disciplinary care for the benefit of all patients.
To interpret and utilise the findings of investigations such as Videofluoroscopy/FEES to design specialised therapeutic programmes of care and ensure the MDT are informed of outcomes/management plans. The CHANT service now offers an innovative community FEES service which the post holder would contribute to.
To demonstrate clinical effectiveness by use of evidence based practice and measurement of outcome.

1. Diploma/Degree leading to RCSLT licence to practice
2. Registered Member HCPC
3. Masters or equivalent level of post-graduate specialist training short courses, specific training and membership of National CEN relevant to Head and Neck Cancer
4. Attendance at advanced dysphagia training including videofluoroscopy interpretation
Experience

5. Significant specialist experience working with adults with acquired disorders of communication and swallowing including working with Head & Neck patients in Acute/Community environment.
6. Significant experience of working as an integral member of a multidisciplinary team.
7. Experience of multidisciplinary goal planning, development of care pathways and using outcome measures.
8. Support and supervision of junior staff
9. Informal and formal training of other professionals
10. Participation in audit/outcome management
