We currently have a vacancy for a higher level Imaging Department Assistant based within the busy CT department at Royal Preston Hospital.
You will be required to work alongside all members of the multi-disciplinary CT team and will be expected to demonstrate flexibility in your attitude to work.
The CT department at Royal Preston Hospital has 4 CT scanners; one in the ED CT department, 2 in the Neuro CT department and a mobile CT scanner based at Preston Healthport. The role will involve rotation through all the scanners.
You will be required to assist the Radiographers or Radiologists with all CT procedures and will be expected to demonstrate excellent patient care and communication skills.

NVQ 3 in a health related subject is a requirement of the post, however we would be happy to offer the job as a training post subject to completion of the Level 3 apprenticeship in Diagnostic Imaging within 18 months of starting in post.
Within the CT department we undertake a variety of specialist scans including trauma, oncology, neuro, cardiac and virtual colonography.
Your role will involve supporting the patient throughout their CT journey. This includes preparing the patients prior to their scan, cannulating the patient and preparing the contrast (xray dye), monitoring the patient during specialist procedures, providing emotional support and providing any necessary aftercare.
You will also assist the Radiographer and the multidisciplinary team to manage and improve the workflow to provide an excellent CT service.
Duties will also include performing administrative tasks and assisting with stock ordering and daily cleaning of the department.
Venepuncture and cannulation training will be provided to the successful candidate if required.
