Salary: Base salary: £67450pa to c.£84350pa depending on skills and experience. In addition, we offer a flexible benefits fund of 20% which is paid on top of the base salary and is fully pensionable, as well as a range of competitive benefits.

As a Snr Project Manager at HS2, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of the contract(s) to time, budget, scope, and quality. You will manage the conclusion of the procurement process, preparation for contract award, and delivery of the Phase One works. You will be joining HS2 at an exciting time as we move through the final stages of procurement and into contract award. The scope of the contracts will bring innovative technology to the UK railway and support the delivery of this transformational project.
About the role:
* Provide project management support to one or more of the Heads of Delivery / Client Directors for their allocated project.
* Support in the successful delivery of Railway Systems objectives outcomes.
* Interface with relevant Railway Systems stakeholders as required.
* Monitor change generated from both the Construction/Delivery teams, including scope changes and cost changes that impact on project affordability, escalating issues to Client Director / Head of Delivery as required.
* Report on the progression of project deliverables to the Head of Delivery and more broadly within the Railway systems programme.
* Ensure project plans are developed, maintained, and analysed to identify and mitigate delivery risks.
* Identify and ensure appropriate mitigating actions are implemented to address potential milestone slippages.
* Actively involve in the integrated HS2 team, providing day-to-day coordination to deliver project and/or contract requirements.
* Manage the package contractor(s) to ensure successful delivery of the project.
* Ensure the project is successfully integrated with other related HS2 and Network Rail projects.
* Manage the solution development of the named delivery projects.
* Provide controlled input to the Client Cost Estimate(s), delivery logistics, key milestones, and time, cost, quality, and safety targets.
* Manage and deliver the required assurance and governance process across the named delivery project(s).
* Undertake the duties of the Project Manager under an NEC3 contract.

Knowledge:
* Understanding of project management knowledge aligned to APM Project Manager (advanced).
* Understanding of the ethical and legal framework of public procurement.
* Understanding of the technical elements and architecture of the relevant scope of work within the HS2 programme.
* Understanding of contract structures and supplier performance systems.
* Understanding of project cost reporting and its criticality to business performance.
* Understanding of risk identification and management.
* Understanding of project schedule management and stakeholder management.
* Degree level qualification in project management, engineering, commercial management, or equivalent experience.
Type of experience:
* Experience of the entire project lifecycle including planning, procuring, developing, and implementing railway systems project activities.
* Experience of working across functions and disciplines to deliver complex objectives.
* Experience of supporting, developing, and managing people directly and in a matrix environment.
