The project has started construction and is now seeking private investment. When completed, it will provide dependable electricity to 6 million homes for 60 years, which along with renewables, will support Britain to achieve Net Zero by 2050. We Are Hiring: Environment and Sustainability Lead As the Environment and Sustainability Lead, you will oversee the delivery of environmental and sustainable solutions across our contractor partners at Sizewell C. This role is pivotal in ensuring our project meets its environmental commitments and sustainability goals. What You'll Do • Develop and implement procedures to ensure compliance with environmental commitments and conditions. • Manage significant environmental aspects of the project, minimizing risks to personnel and the environment. • Integrate environmental requirements into service contracts and evaluate bids. • Ensure all service providers comply with environmental management procedures. • Lead a team of Environmental Advisors, conducting regular inspections and performance reviews. • Support the Environmental and Sustainability Manager in meetings with regulators and local authorities. • Provide guidance on environmental matters to SZC staff, contractors, and consultants. • Engage with stakeholders including the Local Planning Authority and the Environment Agency. Skills and Knowledge • In-depth understanding of environmental regulations related to construction sites. • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. • Proactive and able to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information. • A thorough understanding of management arrangements implementation. Qualifications and Experience • Degree in a related discipline (Advantageous) • Experience in delivering environmental and sustainable solutions on large construction projects. • Familiarity with construction activities and standards. • Experience working with regulators, planning authorities, and public bodies. • Knowledge of environmental legislation and standards for large construction projects, with nuclear industry knowledge being a plus.
