A well-established alloy component manufacturer is seeking a Laboratory Technician to join its metallurgical team in Leicester. This role involves conducting materials testing, supporting quality control, and assisting in research and development.
Key Responsibilities:
* Performing routine and advanced materials testing, including hardness, tensile, and microstructural analysis
* Preparing and analyzing metallurgical samples using microscopy and chemical testing methods
* Supporting quality control processes to ensure compliance with industry standards
* Maintaining and calibrating laboratory equipment to ensure accuracy
* Assisting in research and development of new alloy compositions and processing techniques
* Documenting test results and reporting findings to engineers and production teams
Candidate Requirements:
* Experience working in a metallurgical or materials testing lab (manufacturing, foundry, or aerospace experience is advantageous)
* Knowledge of superalloys, aerospace materials, or high-performance metals is desirable but not essential
* Familiarity with lab equipment such as spectrometers, hardness testers, and microscopes
* Foundation level qualification in engineering/ laboratory skills would be beneficial
