An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented Contentious Construction Associate or Senior Associate to join a rapidly expanding Construction & Engineering practice at a top 50 UK law firm. This role is based in the firm's growing London office, offering access to high-quality regional and City-led work, a clear progression path, and a flexible, people-first culture.
This is a superb opportunity for a construction disputes lawyer to become part of a dynamic and forward-thinking team, with an emphasis on contentious construction matters across a broad range of sectors and contract types. You'll act for an impressive client base of developers, contractors, consultants, funders, local authorities, NHS Trusts, and education providers, with disputes often arising from major infrastructure, development, and public sector projects.
The firm is investing significantly in its London-based Construction & Engineering offering, led by a highly regarded partner, and this position represents a key strategic hire with excellent long-term prospects.
You'll work on a broad range of contentious construction matters, including:
1. Advising on disputes arising from major standard form contracts (e.g. JCT, NEC, FIDIC)
2. Acting in litigation, arbitration, adjudication, and other forms of ADR
3. Supporting clients from pre-dispute advisory stages through to resolution
4. Working collaboratively on national and international matters, including high-value arbitrations seated in London
5. Helping shape the growing team and supporting the development of junior lawyers
Candidate Requirements:
1. 3-10 years' PQE in contentious construction law
2. A strong grounding in construction disputes gained at a respected regional, City or international firm
3. Familiarity with adjudication, litigation, and arbitration processes
4. Experience advising on or drafting around standard industry contracts
5. A commercial mindset and the confidence to manage client relationships
6. A collaborative approach, with a desire to be part of a growing team and contribute to its future
