Connect 44 is actively hiring for a IP Test Engineer to join our team based in Slough. The role is a 6 Month Initial Contract based inside IR35. Job Responsibilities: The role requires specialized depth of expertise in IP testing and problem solving with excellent analytical / troubleshooting skills of complex problems encompassing an in depth knowledge of: Juniper / Cisco / Alcatel IP equipment. Ability to analyse detailed technical documentation in order to derive Test Strategy and write associated Test Plans and Test Criterias that match the scope and level of risk agreed with our customers. Ability to produce Risk assessments based on the test cycle experience and clearly document and summarise the key factors. You must be able to Work independently receiving minimal guidance & direction and It may be necessary to manage Upgrades which could involve testing outside normal hours. Job Functions: The main functions of this role are split between: IP test activities and support, IP project management and IP planning. The IP project management / planning activity is to ensure IP team delivers on test requirements taking on internal or external business issues and recommending best practice. The role requires action as a resource for colleagues with less experience and may direct the work of other team members / contractors. The support role requires you to take proactive responsibility of issues and solving complex problems in and around the Test Environments and demonstrate tenacity to see them to resolution, thus supporting and guiding UK projects under test in accordance with project milestones. IP testing within the Testbed environment involves defining appropriate test strategies ensuring all risks are assessed. Testing upgrade / changes on network equipment, liaising relationships; influences stakeholders with internal UK departments and raising problems with the Vendor and progressing them to a satisfactory conclusion. This is carried out whilst communicating progress, results and technical issues to the Project team, Vendors and customers. Skills: Understanding of Project Management methodologies with excellent Verbal and Written Communication skills. An excellent Team Player comfortable in leading and following team mates where opportunity calls and have test and integration experience in a Mobile Network IP environment. Must have an ability to work independently and acts as a resource for colleagues directing their work if necessary. Knowledge of Spirent Test Centre, IXIA and Wireshark or similar IP packet generation and tracing tooling are key skill required for this role with an ability to assess issues and provide impact analysis. Experience Minimum of Cisco CCNP accredited or equivalent with good knowledge of GSM,GPRS, UMTS and LTE principles. Knowledge of Spirent Test Centre, IXIA and Wireshark or similar IP packet generation and tracing tooling and an understanding of Testing Methodologies. In depth knowledge and experience with Cisco, Juniper and Alcatel Routers, Ethernet Switches, IP protocols, LAN, WAN, MAN & SAN networks, MPLS/VPN & IP Security/VPN technologies.
