Temporary Commissioning Officer/ Admin - Children & Families

Pay Rate: £18.06 per hour PAYE
37 Monday – Friday, normal working hours
This opening assignment is for 3 months

Hybrid working, with one or two days in the office per week
The core role is to manage placements for children in care. This could be foster families, residential homes or supported accommodation for older young people. It is a busy and face paced role, working to tight deadlines. You will be part of a team of staff managing placements with admin support, quality assurance and a brokerage team for children. The team works closely together with daily MS teams calls and a lively MS teams chat stream.
Key Responsibilities:
Work as part of a contract/placement management team.
Lead on specific areas of placements/providers, e.g. residential care.
Review placements for children in care, prioritising high cost placements.
Respond to placement disruptions, notices, requests for additional support and concerns about providers.
Complete record keeping and paperwork for each child.
Be part of a duty rota to manage emergency placement searches for same day home finding.
Managing finance queries.
Qualifications:
Good levels of literacy and numeracy evidenced by GCSEs Grade A – C, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent experience.
Knowledge:
Knowledge of procurement and commissioning legislation, policy and processes.
Understanding of how the public sector works.
Experience:
Experience of working in a council service area e.g. highways, children’s services, adult social care etc.
Proven experience of interpreting and presenting research and customer views in light of legislative and policy requirements.
Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role, or context and ideally within a public sector organisation.
Working in a commissioning environment as commissioner or provider.
Development of communication and engagement plans.
Involvement and support to a range of projects including planning and reporting, including working on sensitive projects.
Working in areas where policy and legislation are subject to change.
Assisting with commissioning and procurement activity.
Building and maintaining productive relationships, including those with stakeholders and partners.
Skills & Abilities:
Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite).
Proven project support skills and experience of working to tight, pressurised deadlines.
Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
Ability to compile detailed specifications which reflect evidenced need and customer feedback/preference to commission service.
Ability to add value through expert knowledge and understanding of a given outcome/portfolio area.
