We are looking for a Junior Category Manager to support the Category Manager in optimising the customer offer, sales, availability and profitability of the Branded department.
Key Responsibilities
1. Day to day critical path management and junior team management to ensure deadlines are met & initiatives are landed on time.
2. Ownership of own KPI’s and profitability.
3. Range Responsibility – ownership of own ranges and brands E2E, present ranges to CM & Head of Brands for sign off.
4. Manage TACM & ACM with regular 121’s, support CM with career paths and quarterly performance reviews.
5. Prepare for trade meetings using BI and Ecomm Reports, ensuring that all information is accurate before being presented, managing sampling process where required.
6. Own the critical path & promotional plans, ensuring the dept is in line with the business requirements. Highlighting and managing any potential issues that need immediate action.
7. Build strong relationships with marketing, ecommerce & retail teams, managing trading & marketing plans to ensure alignment of all new brands and promotional activity.
8. Identify opportunities with the CM in regards to prices, range width, gaps or potential over ranging and profitability, using up to date market data.
9. Onboarding Supplies– build relationships with Tech Onboarding Team to understand the status of each suppliers set up to be able to troubleshoot any blockers that may occur.
10. Taking an active role within strategy planning and meetings, displaying your understanding of lessons learnt and how to move forward. Being an expert in your field – regularly reviewing competitors and constantly benchmarking.
11. Review range plans from suppliers ensuring all information is accurate and displaying the correct agreed margins.
12. Clear understanding of the Matalan commercial terms to be able to complete the set up of new brands from E2E.
13. Attend supplier visits and trade shows where necessary to identify any opportunity, view upcoming ranges and discuss recent trading performance and initiatives.
Minimum Requirements
1. Current Junior Buyer / Junior Category Manager or an experienced Assistant Buyer / Assistant Category Manager looking for the next step.
2. Experience of managing and building 3rd Party Brands, owning the E2E process.
3. Relationship building & networking with internal and external stakeholders.
4. Attention to detail & Time Management.
5. Agility & ability to manage multiple projects & prioritise.
6. Experience in managing & coaching a small team.
