Leaving Care Personal Advisor
Location: Bradford
Position: Full-Time, 3-Month Initial Contract (with potential for extension)
Hours: Full-time, including occasional evenings and weekends
Are you passionate about helping young people who are in care or transitioning out of care? We are looking for a dedicated Leaving Care Personal Advisor to support young people in maximising their life opportunities and reaching their full potential. This is an exciting role where you will provide practical, personal, and emotional support, helping young people build the skills they need for a successful future.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Leaving Care Personal Advisor, your role will be centred on guiding young people through crucial transitions in their lives. Your responsibilities will include:
1. Assessment & Monitoring: Supporting the assessment and ongoing reassessment of needs, ensuring that plans remain effective and tailored to each individual.
2. Personal & Emotional Support: Offering practical support to promote physical, emotional, and social well-being, including assisting with domestic tasks and providing transport when necessary.
3. Key Areas of Support: Advising young people on important aspects of life after care, such as health, benefits, education, training, housing, employment, and personal well-being.
4. Empowerment & Advocacy: Helping young people to make informed decisions, self-advocate, and engage fully in the development of their Pathway Plans and Personal Action Plans.
5. Support Through Transitions: Assisting young people as they transition from childhood to adulthood, empowering them to take responsibility for their future.
Essential Experience & Qualifications:
1. NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant field.
2. Experience working directly with young people, particularly those in care or recently leaving care.
3. Ability to work creatively with young people, including those with complex needs or in vulnerable situations.
4. Understanding of the challenges young people face regarding housing, education, training, and employment.
5. Experience collaborating with other professionals and agencies to support young people.
6. Full UK driving licence and access to a car or reliable transport for work purposes.

1. Strong commitment to fostering independence and self-advocacy in young people.
2. Flexibility and a willingness to work evenings and weekends when necessary.
3. Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
4. Compassionate and proactive in supporting young people through complex and sometimes challenging circumstances.
