Hoveton and Wroxham Medical Centre are looking to welcome a bright and motivated dispensary manager into our busy practice, who will play a full and active role as part of the practice multi-disciplinary team. The role is advertised at 34.5 hours per week, however we may consider full time hours of 37.5 per week for the right person. The main responsibilities of the role: Manage the dispensary staff in accordance with current HR policies and be responsible for staff rotas, appraisal and development of dispensary staff. Manage the safe dispensing of prescriptions for patients by supervising all dispensing matters within the practice, checking colleagues dispensing as required. Accurate collection and recording of prescription charges from patients and cross-referencing the number and value of prescription charges against statements. Manage the return of medicines from patients. On a monthly basis, oversee uncollected medication in accordance with current policy. Effectively manage stock levels within dispensary, minimising wastage and expenditure. Manage a safe and effective working environment. Effective management of the cold chain process. Process all relevant prescriptions and repeat prescriptions as authorised by GPs and prescribing nurses where appropriate, in accordance with best practice. Collect all due prescription charges and ensure that the patient declaration on the reverse of the FP10 is duly filled in and signed by the patient. Manage ordering stock and stock control. Answer and deal with dispensary phone enquiries. Monitor patients’ exemption status. Sort and dispose of unwanted/returned medication. Any other duties to assist in the smooth day to day running of the dispensary and surgery. About the Candidate If you are a Dispensary Manager or an experienced Dispenser looking for an exciting new role, then we'd love to hear from you. You will have the following skills and experience: Qualified dispenser (NVQ level 2) GCSE (or equivalent) English and Maths grace C or above. At least 2 years dispensary and pharmacy experience. Previous dispensary/pharmacy experience is essential, ideally within general practice. Excellent clinical and medication knowledge. The commitment to continue to learn new clinical skills and develop your career. The confidence to work as part of a busy GP multi-disciplinary practice team and using your own initiative in decision making. The ability to be adaptable and flexible in your approach. Excellent patient facing inter-personal communication skills. About Us We are a highly reputable, semi-rural, dispensing, research and GP training Practice operating in North Norfolk within the village of Hoveton/Wroxham, 6-miles to the north east of the fine city of Norwich. We have a growing list size of approximately 10,000 patients. We are also a member of the NN4 Primary Care Network, working closely with 5 other local practices.
