The Trauma and Orthopaedic Department at UHD are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the team as a Senior Clinical Fellow in Elective knee surgery and trauma.
This is an exciting time to join as we are currently made great progress with a vision in creating a first class fully integrated Trauma and Orthopaedic Service within our Bournemouth and Poole Hospital sites as part of the new University Hospitals Dorset.
This Fellowship offers a wealth of clinical experience which includes working in our Derwent Orthopaedic Centre (which now boasts a new 3rdmodular theatre) and main theatres on the elective site and also participating in trauma on the Poole site.
This is a 12 month fixed term post.
We are principally recruiting for a fellow to commence in October 2025 but may consider applicants for future opportunities if deemed suitable at the point of interview.
Applicants should be on the GMC Specialist Register.
Your CV must be attached to your application form through NHS Jobs.
We do reserve the right to close this advertisement early if we receive a high volume of suitable applications.
It is planned that the Fellow would, after adequate training, operate independently.
The Fellowship will offer particular emphasis on training and research in knee surgery
Our values define who we are as #TeamUHD. They underpin everything we do now and in the future. They define how we treat our patients, visitors, and each other, our valued teammates and colleagues.
UHD are investing in services across the Trust, with many being transformed and developed following merger and the New Hospital Programme.
This means that some services may move site this year or next, either temporarily or long term. Recruiting Managers interviewing for this role will be happy to answer any specific questions that you have at interview.
The post holder will be employed in the Trauma & Orthopaedic Department at UHD and based on the elective Bournemouth Site with additional sessions in trauma on the Poole site. This system has been in place for over 21 years and is well established.
All aspects of elective and traumatic conditions affecting the knee are covered between the two Trusts. This post is aimed at year 5/6 Specialist Trainees or higher.
It is anticipated that applicants will already have received training in intermediate Knee surgery, although this is not essential. This post will offer experience of uni-compartment knee replacements, total knee replacements, revision knee replacements and techniques such as high tibial osteotomy. Facilities for clinical and basic science research are available. There is no on call commitment associated with this post.
