Our Building Services division provides complete Facilities Management of schools, colleges, and universities throughout the UK, providing mechanical and electrical engineering support, cleaning, catering and grounds maintenance on a planned and reactive basis, using technological solutions to manage our teams in the most efficient ways.
We are looking for an on-site Premises Assistant to join our facilities management team based in a School in Basildon.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a team focused on providing an excellent customer experience to our Essex Schools project. The role will be to assist the Premises Manager and team onsite, liaise with our Helpdesk, cleaning and grounds teams ensuring our service is delivered to the highest standards. This role will involve building and maintaining relationships with multiple stakeholders to deliver the requirements of our customers.
What you'll do:
* Contribute to the onsite premises team in the provision of a caretaking service within the school.
* Ensure all planned and reactive maintenance is carried out as determined by Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) plan, Helpdesk, and line manager.
* Monitor and ensure the cleanliness of the school premises and furnishings and report any deficiencies to Line Manager and the Helpdesk.
* Contribute to the management of CoSHH onsite.
* Operate the heating plant to maintain required temperatures and ensure an adequate supply of hot water. Carry out frost precaution procedures as appropriate.
* Support the school and comply with school-based procedures in the event of fire, flood, breaking and entering, accident or major damage.
* Carry out first line investigations/ repairs and maintenance with continued collaboration with the Line Manager and the Helpdesk.
* Ensure that all areas within the confines of the site are free from litter and that all drains and gullies are clean and free flowing.
* Take delivery of stores, materials and other goods and convey them to their points of distribution.
* Comply with all statutory and regulatory requirements, including Health and Safety legislation and safe systems of work.
* Follow systems relating to utility meter reading and monitoring.
* Ensure that all caretaking equipment is in a safe and working condition and report any faults to the Line Manager and Helpdesk for repair.
* Prepare the school premises and site for assemblies, meetings, and out of school activities, providing support as required.
* Carry out routine and non-routine opening of premises and grounds, responding to calls outside normal working hours as a result of break-ins or burglar alarm activations.
* Provide access, where possible, to the premises and classrooms in the event of snow or minor flooding or similar emergency situations.
* Assist with facilitating the day-to-day management of Sub-contractor activity on site.
* Ensure safe access and egress on school grounds during periods of inclement weather.
* Be available for ongoing evening/weekend lettings/school events and have the flexibility to cover occasional lettings which may arise.
* Undertake any other reasonable tasks and duties relevant to the post and grade as may be determined by Line Manager.
