Marketing Director

A highly successful, independently owned group — made up of four diverse, high-performing businesses, each with revenues exceeding £20m — is seeking a commercially driven Marketing Director to lead a step-change in brand visibility, strategic growth, and market expansion.
Operating internationally, this group supplies specialist products and solutions across a range of sectors, with end users spanning professional tradespeople, specification architects, and a network of distribution partners. There is also a developing D2C strand and clear ambition to scale this further.
The successful candidate will bring intellectual agility, strong commercial instincts, and a deep understanding of how to develop messaging, positioning, and sales enablement that aligns with both channel needs and regional nuances. The remit spans UK, European, and global markets — and this appointment is critical to delivering growth in new territories and sectors.
🔻 Key Responsibilities
* Develop and lead the group-wide marketing strategy across all businesses and regions, ensuring consistency of vision while recognising operational independence
* Shape market entry strategies for international expansion, including market intelligence, proposition development, and localisation
* Oversee channel-specific campaigns for architects, distributors, and trade professionals, ensuring engagement and conversion at each touchpoint
* Build and mentor a high-performing marketing team with centralised and embedded resource models
* Collaborate closely with MDs and Sales Directors across the group to align marketing with commercial strategy and support business unit growth
* Take the lead on digital evolution, including CRM, lead gen, ecommerce potential and brand-building across traditional and emerging platforms
🔻 Candidate Profile
* Experience in a multi-brand or group environment, ideally with international scope
* Track record of building high-impact marketing functions from the ground up
* A pragmatic, sleeves-rolled-up approach with the ability to influence at senior levels
* Strong understanding of marketing into trade/distribution and specification-led sectors
* Evidence of delivering commercial outcomes through both strategic and tactical work
