This is a fantastic opportunity for an able and enthusiastic Psychology graduate to work into an established Memory Service in North Manchester.
You will be working under the supervision of a qualified Clinical Psychologist and will have close links with the Later Life Community Mental Health Team in North Manchester. You will be joining a well-established citywide psychology service which has an excellent clinical and academic reputation.
The older adult service already employs ten Clinical Psychologists across Manchester and Trafford. The service has close links with the Manchester, Lancaster and Liverpool Doctorate Training Programmes.
You will be working under the supervision of a qualified Clinical Psychologist to administer a range of specialist neuropsychological assessments and write associated reports to support the diagnostic process. You will also assist with other aspects of the Clinical Psychology service as needed. This may include running groups, supporting referrals meetings, carrying out observations in care homes, delivering structured interventions, audits and literature searches.
The successful applicant will be able to show enthusiasm for working with older people with dementia and/or mental health difficulties and in the application of psychological approaches. They will be able to demonstrate sensitivity and understanding of the needs of those in later life. An ability to demonstrate this in the application form supporting information will be considered as part of the shortlisting process. They will be able to work well with a range of disciplines, have excellent verbal and written communication skills and a flexible approach to work. They will have a good degree in Psychology and will be interested in pursuing a career in Clinical Psychology.
