About the role The position will be proactive in the assistance and skilling compliance and regulatory enforcement Officers in the Organisation with respect to investigation techniques, evidence gathering, and compiling briefs. Y ou need to be a lateral thinker, and be willing and able to rapidly switch between different areas of law. You will provide advice and representation to Council staff on the range of legal areas related to Council’s operations. The position shall undertake other related matters as directed by the Head of Legal Services, which may include advice and advocacy in Class 1 appeals from time to time. Essential criteria Appropriate tertiary qualifications in law and eligible for admission as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of NSW Relevant experience in planning, environmental, and local government law Excellent written and verbal communication skills Experience in appearing as an advocate in Court Ability to work in a team environment and independently An understanding of the role of local government in NSW Salary: The salary for this position ranges from $125,617.00 - $145,407.00 per annum, 11.5% Superannuation, plus a Market Forces Allowance, and will be negotiated commensurate with the skills, qualifications and experience of the preferred applicant.
