Job Title: Deputy Manager – Maternity Cover Location: Ware, Hertfordshire Salary: £30,000 per annum Contract Type: Full-time, Fixed Term (Maternity Cover – up to 12 months) Hours: 40 hours per week About the Role: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Manager to join our friendly residential care home in Ware, Hertfordshire. This is a maternity cover role offering an excellent opportunity to support and lead in a well-established setting committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred care for older adults. The successful candidate will work closely with the Registered Manager and play a key role in the day-to-day operational management of the service, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and promoting a culture of excellence. Key Responsibilities: Support the Registered Manager in the overall management of the care home. Lead and supervise care staff, providing guidance, mentoring, and performance management. Ensure compliance with CQC standards and all relevant legislation. Support with care planning, assessments, risk management, and safeguarding procedures. Monitor care delivery to ensure it meets individual needs and supports residents' well-being. Participate in staff recruitment, induction, and ongoing training. Liaise with residents, families, healthcare professionals, and external agencies. Conduct internal audits, contribute to quality improvement plans, and uphold a safe and caring environment. Act as Manager in the absence of the Registered Manager. Requirements: Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (minimum); Level 5 or working towards it desirable. Previous experience in a senior care role, ideally as a Team Leader or Deputy Manager. Strong knowledge of CQC regulations, safeguarding, and care planning. Excellent communication and leadership skills. A compassionate, proactive, and professional approach. Flexibility to work occasional weekends or on-call as required. Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain).
