Your new role
As Financial Controller, you will have responsibility for the overall management, direction, and coordination of the plant finance function to optimize accounting, forecasting, and statutory reporting to acceptable quality, reporting to the CFO Europe. Your responsibilities will include:
1. Provide analytical, interpretive, investigative, and advisory services on business and commercial impact, including supporting the Plant Manager as required.
2. Responsible for the integrity of the accounts and to ensure that the accounting function operates at all times in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and board policy.
3. Ensuring that the specific ledgers, records, and books of accounts such as payroll records and proper expense distribution are maintained to satisfy company and governmental requirements.
4. Liaison with Auditors to complete year-end statutory accounts in a timely fashion and ensure that no major write-ups are received.
5. Work with third-party advisors to ensure timely and accurate completion and filing of tax returns.
6. Establishing annual budgets, monthly accounts, and weekly forecasts in line with business requirements.
7. Overseeing the payroll team in administering salary, wage, and benefit programs, and ensuring that the company PAYE returns are correct.
8. Develop and maintain effective programs, so departmental KPI's and budgets are monitored and controlled.
9. Maintain adequate internal controls.
10. Assisting in the preparation and review of project requests for all capital expenditure.
11. Communicate, motivate, and develop subordinates through regular performance reviews, including annual reviews, involvement in target setting, and through routine exchanges.
12. Develop an understanding of product standard costs, working closely with the group costing team to ensure accuracy and understand the impact on the business.
13. Carry out/manage any other projects or tasks as requested by the CFO Europe or Plant Manager from time to time.
What you'll need to succeed
A qualified accountant with at least 2 years' experience in a similar role. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Proven analytical thinking, results orientation, and problem-solving skills. Strong organizational skills in handling multiple responsibilities simultaneously with high attention to detail and a high level of accuracy. Ability to communicate with a wide range of contacts from corporate to manufacturing employees - both oral and written. Previous project management skills. Drives a high-performing culture and continuous improvement.
