SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) – Secondary

GSL Education are seeking a compassionate and committed SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join a vibrant mainstream primary school in Poole, Dorset. This full-time opportunity offers a salary between £17,500 to £19,500 per year (based on experience), with a start date ASAP or from Easter 2025. A permanent contract is available upon successful completion of the probation period, providing long-term stability in a rewarding role.
About the role: As a SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), you will provide one-to-one support for a student with behavioural needs who is on an Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP). You will play a vital role in helping them engage with their learning, develop essential social skills, and manage their emotions positively within a mainstream classroom environment.
Responsibilities of the SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA):
* Work closely with the student, implementing tailored strategies to support their individual learning and behavioural needs.
* Foster a safe, structured, and inclusive environment to promote positive engagement.
* Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to ensure consistent support.
* Use de-escalation techniques and behaviour management strategies to maintain a calm and productive learning atmosphere.
* Encourage confidence, independence, and emotional resilience in the student.
Requirements of the SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA):
* Experience working with children with behavioural needs, SEN, or in a similar support role.
* A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to managing challenging behaviours.
* Ability to adapt and implement behaviour support strategies effectively.
* Strong communication and teamwork skills.
* Understanding of various SEN conditions.
* Have an updated CV and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
