Geotechnical Engineer
Got a flair for the complex? Buro Happold's Ground Engineering team are looking for a Geotechnical Engineer to join their vibrant multi-disciplinary practice.
As a Geotechnical Engineer, you will sit within the wider Ground Engineering team. Your main objective will be to provide high-quality geotechnical support to our clients in the development of bespoke, sustainable, structural engineering and infrastructure projects in the UK and overseas.
Your next role:
1. Scoping, specification, management and supervision of geotechnical site investigations.
2. Site characterisation including ground modelling and geotechnical interpretation.
3. Soil structure interaction and geotechnical substructure design.
4. Liaise with other disciplines to support development of substructure solutions.
5. Undertake numerical modelling including foundation, retaining wall and slope analysis.
6. Data review and analysis including interpretation and input into technical design reports.
Your skills and experience:
You will hold a master's degree or PhD in civil or geotechnical engineering or equivalent and will have a strong desire and drive to deliver quality projects and achieve excellent results. We have a diverse and inclusive team and you will be comfortable working within a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary environment and be able to speak and write English fluently. You will be used to taking the initiative and responsibility for your assignments and you have an ability to achieve excellent results through teamwork.
1. Have two years post-graduate experience within a consulting design practice.
2. Have proven experience in specifying and reviewing ground investigations, geotechnical interpretation and soil structure interaction design methodologies.
3. Have proven experience of advanced numerical modelling including use of alternative constitutive models.
4. Have enthusiasm and geotechnical expertise to develop and communicate concepts.
5. Have ambitions to become a Chartered Engineer, lead and develop design capabilities.
6. Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise with clients and other consultants effectively.
