Directing commercials on a contract basis for a flagship £250M green-energy manufacturing building project from the Bristol office & Bridgwater site for this high pedigree National MEP building services contractor with blue chip clients and a healthy future project pipeline in the South West.
The MEP Commercial Director job itself plays a key commercial role in delivering a new £250m project in the SW region.
You will be joining a progressive, yet family-run business with in excess of 100 years of history delivering complex schemes internationally.
This is your chance to lead and oversee commercial strategies on one of the most ambitious projects in the region. As the Commercial Director, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the financial and contractual success of this high-profile development. More specifically:
1. Manage all project-level risk and opportunity schedules. Identify measures to protect the company and improve contract profitability.
2. Provide leadership to the commercial team, maximizing the potential of both the teams and the individuals within them.
3. Build and maintain high-level mutually beneficial customer, key supplier, and vendor relationships.
4. Carry out negotiations with customers on contract terms, valuation of works, and final account settlement.
5. Update business plans and local management accounts.
6. Monitor and manage the commercial performance of the project and project commercial staff.
7. Work with the project commercial team to prepare the commercial plan, ensuring all identified contract obligations, conditions precedent, and risks are communicated and understood by the project team.
8. Manage the ongoing commercial aspects of subcontracts, including agreement of terms and conditions.
This role will primarily be based in Bridgwater; however, until site offices are ready, the team is working from company offices in Bristol.
You will have
To be successful as MEP Commercial Director, you will have a strong background in either M&E (Mechanical & Electrical) or Main Contracting, plus a healthy mix of the following:
1. Experience managing the commercial performance of projects.
2. MEP/HVAC industry/project knowledge.
3. Experience of NEC construction contracts.
4. Experience of managing a team.
5. BSC/Degree/equivalent (desirable).
You will get
As MEP Commercial Director, you will command a competitive rate of £500+ per day, plus accommodation and travel as required if traveling away from home.
A permanent role is likely available by mutual agreement in the £90K-£100K range, plus benefits including Car/Car allowance £6K+, Pension to 8% employer contribution, Private Medical Insurance, and flexible benefits e.g. Personal Wellbeing and Volunteer Days.
