Job Description Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to work in a wonderful Special School in Basildon, Essex. The school supports pupils aged 3-19 years, all of whom have a diagnosed form of special needs. A new Learning Support Assistant will provide support to students with disabilities and special educational needs, including autism, physical disabilities, and profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD). Responsibilities Work collaboratively with the teaching staff to support students with diverse needs in the classroom environment. Assist in the implementation of education health care plans (EHCPs) for students with special educational needs. Provide one-on-one support to students with complex needs, helping them to access the curriculum and participate in classroom activities. Personal Care may also be required for particular pupils. Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students, promoting equality and diversity. Assist with personal care needs, mobility, and sensory regulation for students with physical disabilities. Requirements You must have an enhanced DBS certificate (Child&Adult Workforce) registered on the update service. We can run a new DBS certificate but will charge £52.20. Experience working with students with autism, special educational needs, physical disabilities, and/or PMLD. Strong understanding of inclusive education and a commitment to promoting diversity and equality. A compassionate and patient approach to supporting students with complex needs. Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team, as well as independently when necessary. Relevant qualifications and/or training in special education and/or teaching assistant roles. Care experience is also desirable. Hours & Pay Monday to Friday – 8:30am to 3:30pm (Monday-Friday). £85-95 per day. Weekly pay (£425-475 per week). Temporary to Permanent – permanent contract available after you have completed 12 academic weeks.
