Description | Salary £44,711 - £49,764 Per Annum | Permanent, Full Time, 37 Hours Per Week | Early Help - Preston | International Sponsorship – this role is not open to international sponsorship An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the the Children and Family Wellbeing Service at Lancashire County Council in the new role of Family Policy Development Officer. The Children and Family Wellbeing Service (CFW) offers early help and support to children, young people age 0-19yrs (0 - 25yrs for SEND) and their families across Lancashire. The service responds as early as possible when a child, young person, or family needs support, helping them to access services to meet their needs and working with them to ensure the support offered is right for them, is offered in the right place, and at the right time. The focus of the service is to provide an enhanced level of support which is prioritised towards those groups or individuals who have more complex or intensive needs or who are at risk and particularly where we think that providing early help will make a positive difference. Children and Family Wellbeing staff are skilled, committed and recognise that every family has different needs. The post holder will principally lead strategic and policy development at an Early Help Level around Family Policy. The Family Policy Development Officer will lead the development, delivery and review of children, young people, and their families' services in relation to national developments including Family Hubs, Family Help, Holiday Activities Fund, Reducing Parental Conflict work and other associated initiatives, so that Lancashire’s children, young people, and families receive the support they need to be protected from significant harm and improve their life chances. To inform and influence subject matter responsibilities particularly new and emerging policy developments such as Family Help. Using knowledge and expertise, the post holder will support early help service delivery, problem solving objectives and develop strategies for use in operational risk management. Using professional discretion and taking responsibility for interpreting Council practice and procedures and decisively influencing senior decision makers. The post holder will work in partnership with senior/service managers, stakeholders, and key strategic partners to develop policy, procedure, performance monitoring and quality assurance responses which enhance the capability of delivering good early help services in place-based settings. Alongside the development of effective of family policy to support family life, the post holder will have direct line management of, and responsibility for the Service's Supervised Toothbrushing programme and also the coordination of the Council's Holiday Activities Fund (HAF).
