Job overview
To assist in the delivery of care to babies and their families in the Hospital setting, under the direction of the midwives/registered nurse. To be flexible in approach and assist in covering within Family and Women's Services where required, which can be subject to change at short notice.
Under the guidance of the Midwife/Registered Nurse work enthusiastically as a member of the maternity team to ensure women and their families are at the centre of care. Show care and consideration to the needs of women and their babies and treat with dignity and respect at all times.
To be able to work with transitional care unit based within the postnatal ward in providing care to transitional and extra care babies.
Main duties of the job
The role of the Nursery Nurse (NN) is to support the midwife/registered nurse in the delivery of safe, high-quality care of babies on the Maternity Unit. The Nursery Nurse will be a competent individual, working as a member of the Nursing team.
The Nursery Nurse will work both as a practitioner within their own right, and under the direct supervision and direction of the registered midwives/nurses. The Nursery Nurse will have expertise in caring for newborn babies and working with families facilitating good standards of care.
The Nursery Nurse will undertake a range of duties including: personal care of babies, providing information and advice on parenting skills and infant care, infant feeding, undertake a range of neonatal observations and clerical duties, to ensure the smooth running of the nursing team. The nursery nurse will be given the opportunity to work in the neonatal unit to gain specific skills in caring for transitional care babies and extra care babies.

Qualifications
* NNEB/BTEC/NVQ L3 or equivalent
* GCSE's Maths & English grade C and above
Experience
* Experienced working with children/nursery
* Working in hospital environment
