Clinical Responsibilities:
To undertake physiotherapy assessment, clinically diagnose and implement agreed plans as appropriate, including the routine treatment of complex patients in a manner that respects people's privacy, dignity, and individuality. To act as an advisor to Therapy staff regarding complex clinical issues and complex patient management, problem-solving, making decisions, and authorizing appropriate action. To ensure effective two-way communication with patients and other Health Professionals regarding all aspects of patient care.
To provide and receive complex information that requires empathy and reassurance, communicating where there may be barriers to understanding. To ensure a high standard of patient care is provided, implementing and reviewing clinical standards relevant to the work undertaken/clinical specialty.
Managerial & Leadership Responsibilities:
To liaise with the Therapy Manager providing specialist advice on the planning and development of the service. To represent Therapy Services on any service development working parties/meetings as appropriate. To support the leading of regular staff meetings and facilitate good communication between the department and Trust on Trust and National issues, ensuring effective dissemination of information. To provide expert advice to colleagues. To monitor activity and support the production/analysis of data for clinical specialty. Where necessary, to take appropriate action to ensure activity and waiting list targets are achieved within the service.
To assess the Therapy equipment required for the department. To actively participate in the professional development programme of the physiotherapy/therapy department.
